I am thinking Spring but the outside temps say otherwise. So I will feature one of my favorite indoor plants. It is the clivia. I found it at Lowes about six yrs ago, while in full bloom. I had to have it. She has bloomed yearly since then, growing by leaps and bounds. It requires very little care, water when soil is dry, bright indirect light. That's it. I went online and found there are quite a few verieties also. I have started them by planting the seeds that develop after it blooms. I gave one batch away and have another batch growing in the front window. Plus I just planted some more. The more the merrier lol. Smile

Last week I saw my first robin and a bluebird, who was singing away on the phone line. So I thought what flower could I picture that would take in the red of the robin and the blue of the bluebird. This is my purple primrose. Just so happens that red and blue mixed together make purple! Too bad I couldn't get it to survive the winter. I know some people plant them outside and they come back, but I have had no luck so inside they come. But alas they did not survive. Maybe I will try again this year.

What is not to love about the petunia. They are hardy, come in a variety of colors, and sizes. Some are compact and some are vining. I enjoy their scent, on a warm evening, sitting on our deck or down on the driveway. They just have a wonderful scent. I enjoy star gazing and smelling those petunias. And of course my color of preference is purple, light-medium-dark, single or double. The one photo is of a new one I found last year. Green and a dark pink, I loved it too.

As long as it is purple, I will try and grow it. Dummy me though can not remember the name of this flower. I do know it was na annual, so I will need to look for it again this year. Judy with your vast knowledge of anything plant-flower, let me know if you recognize it. I know my kittie Gizzie loved it. lol

My first post I tried to load a picture of a geranium, but it didn't work. Well I have figured it out so I am posting it now. One of my favorite colors.

What can be said about the dead of Winter? Nothing is growing let alone blooming outside. Houseplants are looking punky, losings their leaves. But if you look for it you can still find beauty. I took this picture on a cold, crips morning, looking at the shadow of one of our large maples. It's shadow along with the sparkling snow was quite the sight in an otherwise drab landscape.

This is one that the butterflies and hummingbirds really enjoy. The trumpet vine, I have it growing on the dog pen fence. I have it in yellow and redish orange. It grows quickly, and spreads and climbs where ever it can get a foothold. So yearly I cut back all the dead wood, and train the new vines in and out of the fence. I have managed to grow a nice, thick main vine with new ones coming off of it. I have found new shouts coming up all over that garden, and they are tough to get rid off. Unless you totally dig them out they will continue to grow, just cuttingor pulling them out won't work. But once you have them the way you want them they will not fall in blooming profusely. They will make seed pods in the fall, so once dried just open, remove seeds and save them for the following year. The hummers will love you for them.

Just so you know I will not be fancy and go all latin names on you. That would require me to look-up said plant or flower. I know them by their simple names, and that is all I ned to know. SMILE
